A subtle wheel imbalance that causes the wheel to rotate slightly off-centre.

Your front wheels need balancing. If you just leave it could wear out your drive shafts and suspension.

  7. RRM says:

its because the wheels are vibrating and your steering columb is connected to them
but it doesnt alwyas mean a misallignment some cars just cant handle going over 80

  8. whore of the old testiment says:

Your wheels may be “out of round.” Your vehicle can be aligned but it would still shudder because one or more wheels is slightly oblong instead of round.

Get down to KWIK FIT and get your tyres and bushes looked at… if its an older car you have say – 7 years + – its just knackered ! time for a new car.

  10. Mrs G says:

A bad wheel alignment won’t cause a vibration. Forget that. More than likely your tires need balanced. Out of balance tires or out of round tires, or separated belts on a tire will cause a vibration. First run your hand around the tires and feel for a separated belt on the tire. If none are there, balance the tires.

If you reach a certain speed and your steering wheel vibrates at that speed but stops vibrating at say…5 mph higher then it is your tire balancing (it’s incorrect). You need to have the tires rebalanced.

  12. woodluvt says:

go to quick fit and ask them to balance your front wheels, It will cost around £20.00..

  13. jodiwod says:

    bad wheel alignment,
uneven tyre wear – caused by bad wheel alignment
    not enough coffee
crap aerodynamics – hence not enough down force at the front of the car – what do you drive?

  14. give up art says:

Most likely an unbalanced front wheel.
Get your local tyre shop to re-balance them for you.

  15. Neil says:

    wheels out of ballance. (front)

  16. hip hop says:

    check the wheel balencing
    then the alignment
if problem still there then suspention is at fault

  17. witherin says:

This could be caused by many factors including:
    Misaligned front end
    loose tires
    Loose bolts somewhere
    uneven air pressure in tires
    uneven tread on all tires
    Road conditions
and much more. I would recommend you have your automobile inspected by a certified mechanic before you drive it more.

Alignment does not cause vibration. Common causes are wheel balance, or that a tyre is beginning to delaminate. Also can be slightly buckled wheet, clobbered any gutters recently?

  19. teef_au says:

this normally down an unbalanced wheel, but could also be a worn steering rack but try getting ur wheels balanced first

  20. tor says:

i get this and its not wheel alignment as i got mine done its worse?

  21. one who has no name says:

A wheel that is improperly balanced or has lost its balancing weights is most likely the cause.

  22. Michael says:

It’s either warped rotors or unbalanced wheels. Let a mechanic sort it out.

  23. Robert E. Lee says:

Tire balance is usually the problem, or worn suspension parts.

  24. Toma says:

try getting your front wheels balanced don’t cost much if that does not work best to get it looked at by a mechanic cheers

  25. simon e says:

Maybe your wheels are not balanced correctly. Road head the leading cause of steering wheel vibration.

  26. John R says:

wheels out of balance / bad u joint/ bad tierod end /bad ball joint /and other things

  27. drvshaft says:

you need a wheel alignment quick

  28. arizonap says:

Either uneven tyre pressure or it could be your ball joints.

  29. Nettie's British Blue says:

I’d opt for getting your wheels balanced. That’s a common cause of the vibrating you’re describing — especially if the tyres have taken a few knocks from the curb etc. Have them balanced (and tyres replaced if required) but if the vibes continue, get it checked out at your garage.
