The fuel pump is the first thing that went out so we replaced it & the truck still wont start. The truck is a 99 chevy silverado z71. The fuel pump is not making a whining sound or anything & the gas gauge isnt reading. Please any ideas would help for we havent had a running vehicle for a week & I have major health issues & we NEED to get it running….
I took my Jeep to get an oil change yesterday and the mechanic told me they noticed that my FRONT break pads were 85% worn, and the rotors will need to be replaced. They said I would need a break flush, my rear breaks cleaned, and completely new front pads & rotors.
Funny thing is, I had ALL FOUR of my break pads and rotors replaced 4 years ago. I paid a heck a lot of money for that job and I sure can’t afford to replace the front ones right now! Are they just trying to get my money? Is 4 years typical for a new rotor and break pad service???
My brother works on Jeeps and has replaced his own breaks since he’s owned Jeeps, and when he gets a chance he will take a look at them for me. But right now I wanted to ask a mechanic out there who can be honest with me. How did my rotors run down in less than 40k miles?
Can the rotors really wear down before the break pads completely wear down??? Or do the pads wear down first, then the rotors become affected?
I do stop a LOT going to school and work and a few times I had to break HARD to avoid a potential accident…so maybe my style of driving could affect it?
Engine runs great, (350 reman roller motor). Cannot find this code in any manual. My diagnostic instrument shows– Manufacture control, auxiliary emission controls. I live in a state that requires E-Check. They will not pass my van if any codes( check engine light) show.Help! I paid a lot for this engine & can’t use my Van.
i bleed the whole slave cylinder system of air and it starts and runs fine but when i try to put it in any gear it doesnt go. the clutch pedal doesnt have much resistence to it so idk if the guys and the store gave me the wrong clutch set or did i do something wrong? or did i not bleed the system long enough?
SRS light was on (airbag not working) and my horn would work. Not able to take it back until later I did notice when turning the wheel there was a slight noise and I thought a bearing was bad/dry. The report was that the Steering angle sensor was bad. In my slight research, no one has indicated that they just wear out over time. The fact that the steering column work was done, my understanding of what a steering angle sensor is and where it’s located ledad me to believe the sensor and cable were damaged during repair. Don’t have $650 to repair, especially if I’m not at fault. Suggestions please.
To provide clarity on timing of events, I called the shop 10 minutes after leaving, was not able to take back immediately. With travel schedule it took 3 weeks to drop off and coordinate. When they call to report the part was being ordered and it’d cost $650 is when my opinion was voiced, research began and leads me to the conclusion of their error verses coincidence on the timing of the sensor going out.
The Jasper engine was put in by the previous owner a few years ago. Now the water pump needs to be replaced, which the dealer estimated will cost $850. Will Jasper engine cover? I have ZERO paperwork but there’s a Jasper sticker with a series of numbers. Please help!
ive tried charging the battery overnight, and jumping it and it still wont start and its a brand new ignition coil, when i try to start it it sounds like the battery is dying slowly then it stops starting up starters good and so is distributor cap plz help me!!!
about 2 weeks ago, i went to meineke to get my brakes done. since then, my brakes sort of have a bit of a scraping sound. they’re under warranty, so i’m not really worried about that part. but also, since then, my car, a mazda 3 manual transmission, has been acting up. wheneveri change gears, no matter how fast or slow i’m going, my car’s engine revs up to 3500 rpms and it takes me forever to gain up speed. and thus, with my engine revving like crazy, my car is starting to smell. does anyone know if the clutch inner workings and my brakes have any connections? like, would the mechanics working on my car somehow messed up soemthing that had to do with my clutch? as you can tell, i know absolutely NOTHING about cars. i know getting a clutch replaced is crazy expensive and i don’t want to have to get it replaced if that isn’t the problem in the first place. plus, my car only has 52,000 miles on it. could the clutch really need replacing??
please, if you have any advice on this, let me know.
I recently had the rear brakes replaced on a 2001 Ford Focus. I drove the car home, and parked it. Two days later, I drove it again, and the ABS failed, and I ended up rear-ending a van. In 7 years of owning this car, the ABS light has never come on, not once. I called the repair shop, and they will accept no responsibility, claiming ABS has nothing to do with rear brakes. Should I pursue this further?
THE ABS FUSE IS OUT OF MY 1999 CHRYSLER SEBRING LX, AND IT CAN’T BE REPLACED BECAUSE ONE OF THE TWO PRONGS IS MISSING. IS THIS REALLY NECESSARY TO FIX OR CAN I JUST DRIVE IT AS IS?
Over the past week Ive replaced the oil filter, Air Filter, sparkplugs, Ignition Coil, Oil, Power Steering Pump, One battery Terminal, all the hubcaps, windshield, etc… Not too bad considering this car is over 21 years old…and its a daewoo. The car currently has 310000 miles on it but the odometer broke in 2002. Word to the wise: Reliability:4 Beauty:1 Presentation:3Pleasure to Drive: -6 1/2. Oh well, when youve had the car for as long as I have you love to hate it. Thanks for watching.
i have a 96 vw golf and the engine is very loud now could it be the timing chains that need to be replaced. what happens when the timing chains start to go and need to be replaced. and do you know how many hours of labor it will take to do?
It is a 2000 F150 4×4 4.2 with air conditioning and is a standard shift.I need to know how to determine how many amps it is.There are few different ones out there and I don’t have the original owners manual.I just got laid off so I need to do this repair my self what can I use to move the tensioner back so I can change this?I also have a leak in the back window, how do I get at the gasket. I see small plastic caps on the inside of the cab covering nuts,do I have to remove them to take the outside plastic frame off and will the glass stay in place if I do? Thanks for any help.
Last week, at a different garage, while having my transmission drained & purged I was told that the front strut mounts need to be replaced. Should this have been done when the new struts were installed? How serious is this? I take very good care of my car but I am in a money crunch right now. All and any advice is greatfully accepted!
there are paint scratches in a spot that were on damaged bumper that are still there – where bumper touches the car. the auto body repair shop was paid to replace bumper.
