I was looking to buy a car and the car service history indicates “Automatic transmission checked, Automatic transmission pan gasket replaced” at 30k. Does this mean there has been a transmission issue? It has 55k miles now.
This car has a towing package.
I’ve been looking to buy a used jeep and i have seen so many that have mannyy miles on them (like 130,000!). Is it worth buying one of these vehicles with this many miles on it?
Hello folks. I wanted to see if anyone could tell me the “significant” differences between a 2010 VW Passat and a 2010 Audi A4 (non quattro). I am in the market for a new car and I am considering the the A4 but several people have mentioned that it is just a very luxurious sporty Passat and even has the same engine. Is this true? Can someone elaborate if possible?
Rather than paying for an expensive Toyota Prius bumper replacement after an unpleasant encounter with a parking lot pole, we decide to attempt the do-it-yourself, armed only with a can of solvent, two hair dryers, and some touch-up paint. Half of the fun is listening to Dad’s comments! Your mileage may vary! We were lucky that even though the dent was huge, it was easy to access the other side of it to push against. We thought about trying the compressed air trick, but the dent was so deep that we were afraid it might pop in the wrong direction! Recorded with the Canon VIXIA HV30 (awesome camcorder!).

Audison Bit One Signal Processor – MAJOR problems! Part 1 of 2 This is me filming the various noises coming from my newly installed car audio system. The central component is the brand new Audison Bit One Signal processor. Audison has acknowledged to me directly that there are some known issues with the product. One is the alternator whine, which is clearly demonstrated on this video and the second issue is what has been called “digital beeping” or “digital Morse code”. Audison calls it digital pulsing. The digital pulsing is caused by communications between the Bit One remote control (called the DRC) and the Bit One unit itself. The alternator whine has been communicated to me as a flaw in the design of the plastic case over the circuit board, most specifically because the chosen paint has microscopic metal flake in it and this paint is known to touch the various input and outputs on the unit causing a sort of electrical continuity that is obviously not very good. Just so you know…..this video was taken the very day that my SECOND Bit One arrived in the mail from Audison Elettormedia USA. This unit replaces my first unit which was acknowledged by Audison as being faulty. Obviously this one is faulty too. BAD AUDISON….BAD!!!!
I have been going to them for a few years, but now I’m wondering if they are the best choice. I’ve had to replace my alternator, now I have to get a new starter, and thats because I’m getting a used engine put in, so I just really need to know is Meineke a good choice or should I start looking for someone new? Please let me know
My girlfriend has a 2000 GMC Jimmy that just lost the transmission. She can not afford the $2000 repair bill, and still owes almost $9000 on the car loan. With close to 100,000 miles, the car itself is probably not even worth the $9,000 she owes on it. Anyone have any advice on how to handle this problem?
i have a 92 nissan 300zx N/A automatic with about 142xxx miles on it. ive had it since january and have been lagging 2 get a tune up. now i think it is time.
i want EVERYTHING changed so my car can run as close 2 perfect as possible. belts, plugs, hoses, fluids, everything. i am planning 2 tell them 2 order the best of everything 2 put into my car.
i am also going 2 get my coolant system flushed. not my engine though because i heard its a waste and bad 4 the car. this is my daily driver and i hope 2 keep it for a LONG time.
how much would the highest price be? also am i missing anything that i should have done while getting my tune up? $$$ is NOT a issue, i just want 2 know how much it is going 2 be.

Mileage is about 107k. A few months ago I was having problems with a strange smell when I would park the car. It was a sort of burning smell that I was told seemed to be transmission fluid, but it seemed OK and all the fluid levels were alright, and no leaks at that point.
In the last few weeks, whenever I parked the car the check oil light would flash for a bit, but it would go away and I’m due for an oil change. Not sure if this is relevant to anything, but I figure the more information the better.
Now then, to the actual problem. Today I noticed MAJOR transmission leaking. On the way home I was called and told that there was a big puddle of transmission fluid where I had been parked. When I got home, I backed up and was parked for about 15-30 seconds, and I pulled forward again and there was a very large puddle of transmission fluid.
Obviously there is some sort of leak, but I’m hoping somebody here will be able to give a more specific diagnosis; what might need to be repaired, anything further I can check, and estimated cost of repair. I myself am not very experienced with car repair, and although I won’t be using it I won’t have a chance to take it to a mechanic for a few days and in the mean time I figured I’d look for some answers.

I don’t know what I want to do with my life. There are so many things I want to do, yet I’m always doubting and second guessing myself. I am a frustrated and confused 19 year old who doesn’t know how in the world people my age know what they are going to do in life, yet I don’t. My worst fear is that after 2 years of hard studying, I find that what i majored in was a mistake. And then, back to college to study something else for another 2 years, or 4 if its a requirement.
As a kid I always thought of myself becoming someone famous, like an actor or film producer. I would act out a character I would see on tv, his voice, accent, etc. It’s funny, because I still do that sometimes. I also have an interest in rally racing and cars, but I would think, “If I become a mechanic, I would be using my imagination, would I?” I would like a job that has demand for workers, requires creativity, and pays really well. What should I do?
