I bought a new 2004 Nissan Titan in March of 2005. Around 10,000 miles the “service engine soon” light came on. I took it immediately to the dealer, who hooked it to the diagonostic machine, told me the gas cap must have been loose, and reset the light. They did this 4 times, never making a note of it in my service records. They changed my oil religiously every 3k, as well as some other minor work on the cat.converter, but nothing major. This past Saturday the engine blew. The dealer that I took it to (we have recently moved out of state) said that the engine, front differential, rear differential and transfer case needed replaced, as well as some other minor work needing done. Bottom line…. I owe nearly 20k and the repair quote from the dealer is 16k. the truck is 7000 miles out of warranty, and the dealer won’t budge on that. I feel the original dealer was negligent in their “repairs and maintenance” and their record keeping. they are now out of business. what to do?
