My Yaris Judders Violently When I Move Off In 1st Gear When The Engine Is Cold!?

I have a T reg, 1L Yaris which judders violently when I move off in first gear when the engine is cold. Once I am in 2nd gear or the engine is warm, the problem disappears. It’s getting embarassing having to apologise to my passenger that it’s the car and not my driving! Any thoughts?

A clutch shudder like that us usually caused by weak torsion springs in the clutch plate. If that is the case the only fix is to put your car in to get a new clutch kit fitted.

Could be your clutch slipping when it`s warm it expands and works normaly get your clutch checked out.

warm up your car until it reaches operating temp. Most cars would do that when engine is cold.

take it to the dealer and let it get cold then have a tech go with a ride with you to duplicate the problem and they just might warranty the clutch.

warm the car up and see a mechanic

Ok this is what you do go to a macanic or the place you bought the car(only if you still have warrenty) and check it out or the second option you have is when you drive it wait a couple of minutes or untill the engine is warm and then try it in first gear then if it still has the problem try it in 2nd gear. But I highly recommand going to someone to check out your car then explain the situation to the person helping you.
    Best of luck to you

The clutches and trannys that toyota uses are terrible for doing that. It has been a long time problem and complaint with toyota.
