hello. here’s the scoop: i acquired a 1996 dodge caravan for next to nothing from the original owner who apparently dumped straight antifreeze into the brake master cylinder, and shortly afterward, brake system failure resulted. he sold the van to me, and i bought it with the intention to repair it, and sell it for profit. that being said, here are the vehicle’s relative specs and further details; it has the trusty 3.3 liter slapped up next to an automatic tranny of course, 141,000 miles, 4 wheel antilock brakes consisting of rotors and calipers up front, and drums in rear, and, even tho this isnt relevant, it has the “grand wagon” package with the tv, vcr, premium sound system and all that good stuff on the raised ceiling in the rear part of the van. so anyway, after brake failure resulted from the original owner putting antifreeze in the master cylinder, the van sat for nearly 2 years without running. upon hearing of it, i purchased it and had it towed to my house because it didnt run or try to start at all. the first task i tended to was making sure it was a running vehicle before i began tearing into the brake system. the starter remained quiet when you would turn the key, so i ended up removing it and rebuilding it myself, which, when put back in, the van fired right up even on the old crappy gas. however, when it was running, i came to find out that the serpentine belt wasnt moving at all due to a seized alternator. so, i found that the alternator’s outer case was cracked and i replaced it. van runs like a champ now. this does arise one question im curious about tho. while replacing the alternator, as i was checking the position of the serpentine belt on each pulley, i found that the center bolt on the harmonic balancer could be turned by hand and the harmonic balancer was wobbling from side to side because it was so loose. i figured it was just because of how the serpentine belt wasnt moving when i got running again for the first time. but anyway, i just gave the center bolt hell with an impact wrench, so problem solved there. but anyway, after finding that the van was a runner, i removed the master cylinder and cleaned out all the fluid from it as well as bled all the old fluid from the brake lines. but the master cylinder was so clogged up with this black crap, that i had to replace it with a new one. after the new master cylinder installed, i tried to bleed the whole system. only the front left wheel and the rear right wheel dumped out air and brake fluid as i bled them. the other two were completely unresponsive. i replaced the unresponsive front right brake caliper and brake hose but after that, still got the same result. so i thought that maybe the main proportioning valve was clogged up. the proportioning valve on this van has the ABS pump mounted on top of it and is located on a bracket tucked in next to the front part of the frame rail on the drivers side. there are 2 lines coming from the master cylinder going into it at the top, and 4 lines coming out of it at the bottom going to each individual wheel. anyway, i replaced the whole proportioning valve and ABS pump assembly and guess what? SAME PROBLEM! ive tried blowing compressed air through the unresponsive lines and everything i can think of, but havent had any luck. this mechanic my dad knows just told me today that on those particular vans, there is some sort of electronic tool you MUST have to bleed the system or it will not work at all. have you heard of this? your help with all this and answering my questions will be GREATLY appreciated because i am so thoroughly perplexed and frustrated cuz this dang van is holding up a restoration i was in the process of doing on one of my dodge pickups before it came along. thank you so much for your time and contributions!!!!

Recently my own vehicle, an ’01 beetle, has been slowly falling apart on me. The current issue, leaking injectors, is a $2,000+ repair bill, and this is just 6 months after having the ABS system replaced. I’ve been looking into purchasing a new car, but finances are very tight. This morning I was told that a ’99 Saturn was being donated to my local church, and I could have it until I was able to afford my own car.

Assuming this car has had all it’s maintenance and has been kept up well, is it a good vehicle to take on for a few months? I don’t drive a lot, but I’d want something that’s safe, reliable and that I won’t wind up spending money on to keep running, which is the exact problem I have with my beetle. What experiences do you all have?

OK but what if u do work out everyday???what if u don’t give yourself a recovery day? do your muscles keep tearing and tearing till they rip lol ? and another question is how will this affect your results? will u get better faster results or will u get less results than if u give yourself recovery days? there has to be some sort of benefit from working out everyday and pushing yourself that extra mile right?

Can someone please tell if this might be whats causing this problem. also they said that if water hits the pump i will have a more serious problem.
