Can An Auto Repair Shop In California Charge You To Fix Your Car Without An Estimate Or Your Permission To Fix

An auto repair shop has had my car for 6 weeks, and have fixed the car without any communication to me of the problem or what was fixed…do I have to pay for the repairs?

as they all said no. A repair shop is supposed to keep in contact with u about any repair they are going to perform. When the call you they have to give you the problem, estimate, and length of time needed for the repair. I think a lawer or some kind of legal action should be taken.
lol no one can touch your car without permission, not your wife, not your mum!
Ask the police mate.
California has an Auto Repair Board or something of that nature. Look in the white pages of the phone book or try the state web site.
I had a dealing with them very early in the 90′s. I hate to tell you this but they didn’t help me a bit. A shop hosed me down pretty good and I lost about $2000 in the deal. Oh well good luck.
NO! They just pulled a fast one on you. Call a lawyer. I worked for a repair shop for 1 week that did that kind of shady business. It does not take 6 weeks to fix anything. And they have to tell you UNLESS you explicitly told them to take the car and fix whatever is wrong with it.
Good luck.
The best thing to do is to contact the California Bureau of Automotive repair and tell them what happen. They will then contact the dealer and get things taken care of for you. the webiste is:http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/stdpage.asp?…
