Brake Light?
by Monkey Wrench on Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 | 4 Comments
I own an ’02 Dodge Ram with a burned out tail light. There are three bulbs in the assembly, and it’s the braking light thats out.
So, I replaced the bulb, and it still doesn’t work properly.
When I press the brake pedal, the light won’t come on. However, when I turn the lights on, the bulb does light up.
I’ve double checked the bulb, it is the right one, number 3057.
What is going on?

You’ve got a brake sensor on your brake pedal assy. It can go bad and cause the light to be non-reactive.
The part should be cheap and diy.
If you want a guide, lemme know.
…this is assuming you’ve checked your fuses…
If you have 3 bulbs in the assembly i would bet that you are changing the wrong bulb. try changing the other bulb.
need to see if the other side is working ok, if it is you need to try to clean the socket the bulb goes into, if that don’t work you may need to replace tail light assm.. sometimes you will lose ground causing one not to work.
i think the 3057 bulb has a single filement, brake light should have a double filement bulb, (3157), double check the bulbs again and make sute you didnt pull the back up light, its an easy mistake to make.
