Any car owner needs to have a good auto mechanic who should also be inexpensive. Auto mechanics are very many and some of them only want to take your money and this is the main reason why you should be very careful when looking for a good mechanic for your car. When you are looking for a mechanic for your car it is like choosing a small business the most important things to keep in mind is the quality of their work, the value of the service as well as the service the mechanic is offering. 

There are several ways you can use to find out the best mechanics close to you. One of the best ways is to get testimonials from people close to you and this may include colleagues, friends as well as family members. These are able to give you a clear picture of what they might have experienced. Another way to do this is by asking other people who have cars that are similar to your car. This is also a very good way as you will be able to relate with the technicalities they may tell you as you have gotten used to them driving your car.

The qualified mechanics are also not able to deal with all kind of vehicles and most of them like to specialize in specific cars in order to be in a position to handle them properly and becoming proficient with one brand. It is there fore important to look out for those mechanics that deal specifically with your own type of car to be on the safe side. If you ask the mechanics if they deal with your specific type of car most of them will accept because to them that is business. However, in order for you to make sure that the mechanic deals with your own type of car, you can visit them on their shops and look around to see the exact types of cars that are being worked on. 

Another way to make sure you have a good mechanic is by calling the Better Business Bureau to see if there are any complaints about the mechanic or the shop. If there are no complaints it is fine however, before making any decision make sure you get full details of the complaints and how they were resolved or if they are still pending. Another thing is to check if the shop has been accredited by the AAA (American Automobile Association) this assures you that the shop gives quality services. The mechanic should also be certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). 

After finding out all these information, this will be enable you to narrow down your list of mechanics and you can now choose any of the qualified ones. After taking your car to the mechanic ask for all the details such as what exactly is going to be done to your car, the mechanic’s operating hours, the nearest bus or train station or even if you van get a loaner while your car is being repaired. Also check the warranty before leaving the shop whether it covers both labor and parts as well as how long it is for which should ideally be 60 days and above.
